Katowice is the main city in Upper Silesia region in Poland. And Silesia is the most underestimated region in the country, I would say. It is mainly assoiciated with the mines, which back in time were basically everywhere here, and the specific Silesian dialect that (mainly elderly) people speak here.

However, after spending 6 months here I can say: Silesia is much more than that. And yeah, Katowice is small, young, but still interesting. A lot of events, a lot of people, a lot of stories. You just need to look for them...
